Imperial Teas was founded in 1994 and their strong drive made it possible to reach the top 10 Tea Exporters in the country in a short period of time.  Ever since 1998 Imperial Teas has remained within the top 10 Tea Exporters of Sri Lanka ranked the 6th largest Tea Exporter for 2007.  Imperial now exports to over 60 countries around the world from its modern factory complex comprising of 310,000 Sqft built on free hold land, located on the road linking the capital city of Colombo with its International airport.

Imperial Teas Group won 2 awards directly related to the Tea Industry i.e. Tea Value Added Extra Large Category – Gold Award and Tea Bulk Extra Large Category – Gold Award at the awards ceremony held on 28th September 2007, conducted by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka.    Imperial Teas Group flagship brand “IMPRA” was awarded “The Best Sri Lankan Export Brand” – Gold Award for the years 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2006, awarded by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka.  In addition the group has won several awards during the past few years, including “The Most Outstanding Exporter Runner Up Award” for export excellence in 2007.

Imperial Teas are joint venture partners in a Green Tea manufacturing project in Sri Lanka in order to cater to the ever increasing demand for quality Green Tea.
