  The Imperial Teas Group was founded in 1994 by a small but dedicated team, whose strong drive made it possible to achieve a place amongst the top 10 Tea Exporters of the country in a short space of time.  Ever since 1998 Imperial Teas Group has remained within the top 10 Tea Exporters ranking the 6th largest Tea Exporter during 2007.  Imperial Group now exports to over 60 countries around the world from their modern factory complex comprising 310,000sqft built on free hold land in Kelaniya in close proximity to the road linking the capital city of Colombo with it’s International Airport.

Our Production Division comprises of Blending machines, Flavoring machines, Tea bagging Double Chamber and Single Chamber machines, Packeting machinery (form, fill and seal) and Over wrapping Machinery (with tear tape facility) and Strapping and Shrink Wrapping equipment.

Our blending, packeting and tea bagging operations are carried out under the direct supervision of trained staff and adhere to statutory and regulatory requirements while conforming to internationally accepted and recognized quality systems of manufacture.  This has enabled us to become specialists in contract packing the private label requirements of our overseas buyers, in addition to being successful as a renowned brand marketing company.  The traceability systems in operation identifies production and supervisory staff responsible for ensuring quality assurance during the manufacturing process.

Our Group’s Tea Bagging Division was successful in obtaining ISO 9001(2000) certification during the year 2003.  In 2004 we were successful in obtaining HACCP certification.  During the year 2005 we obtained JAS certification followed by NASAA certification for packing and exporting Organic Tea.  We obtained KOSHER certification in respect of export to the USA in 2007.  Also in 2007 the Group was successful in obtaining ISO 22,000 certification, British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification as well as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification.

We are committed to supplying our customers with hygienically packed teas of the specific quality at affordable prices by agreed delivery dates.  Our Quality Policy is reviewed on an ongoing basis and updated to meet current needs.

We have established a Product Development Division and a Quality Assurance Division to ensure that we conform to internationally accepted and recognized quality systems of manufacture.  Product testing of each batch is carried out to ensure conformity to quality specifications and to ensure that all product parameters are within internationally accepted norms.  The Quality Assurance Division ensures extraneous matter removal and non-contamination of teas.  Both inward goods and finished goods storage are maintained under hygienic conditions.  All staff are provided with protective clothing and facilities to ensure that personal hygiene is maintained in compliance with internationally accepted Quality Assurance Certifications.

All processes from raw material purchasing to stock control, shipping, export documentation, Financial and Cost Accounting have been streamlined and computerized to enable speedy and efficient handling of export orders both with regard to company owned brands, private label brands and bulk exports, which helps to achieve target delivery dates for all our customers.

We at Imperial Teas have the capability to cater for varying tastes and requirements of customers in different parts of the world.  Our team of dynamic Tea Tasters and Master Blenders are capable of supplying what the customer requires.  We offer you teas fresh from the plantations of Sri Lanka.  Imperial Teas Group guarantees and assures their buyers consistent quality, purity, reliable packaging, timely deliveries and excellent customer service and technical support where necessary.  Our Marketing Team undertakes regular visits to overseas customers and maintain a continuous rapport.

Grading & Tasting

The basis for selecting and purchasing teas for our world renowned blends / brands is laid down by our team of dynamic and experienced Tea Tasters, who grade, taste and value the weekly pre-auction samples prior to purchasing their requirements at the Colombo Tea Auctions.

Marketing
Our team of marketers travel to identified markets to participate in numerous Trade Fairs, Exhibitions and Promotional Events to display our products to a wide audience in addition to undertaking regular trade visits to our overseas buyers.

Packing
Carefully selected teas are blended in our modern state of the art blending machines and are machine packed to ensure that the highest hygienic standards conforming to HACCP requirements are stringently maintained.

Sustaining the Community
Imperial Group has been built on the foundation of being one with the community.  This has spurred numerous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives over the years, where requests from communities are analyzed, benefits gauged and group resources and manpower infused into ensuring sustainability of the projects.  Highlighted are some projects undertaken over the years.

Presentation of computers to enable IT Literacy in schools in the strife ridden North and East of Sri Lanka.

Gifts of wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs to armed forces personnel who have been rendered “Disabled in acton”.

Assisting in the reconstruction of a School devastated by the Tsunami in the Hambantota District.

Presentation of a “Pahan Weta” (Fence of lamps) to the Historical Kelaniya Temple, which dates back to the time of Lord Buddha.

Conduct of health camps for neighboring communities.

Continuous assistance via dry rations to communities who are rendered destitute during natural disasters i.e. Tsunami, Drought, Floods, etc.
