Mr. Jayantha Karunarathne
Chairman/Managing Director

Founder of Imperial Teas (Pvt.) Limited, Mr. Karunaratne began his tea career as a tea taster in 1977. His vast experience in global marketing trends gathered during his extensive travels around the world has steered Imperial Teas to the position of the second largest packeted tea exporter globally. He is currently a Committee Member of the Colombo Tea Traders Association and the National Chamber of Exporters. He also functions as the President of the Sri Lanka – Russia Business Council Affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Illanga Karunaratne
Director - Financial Management

Ms. Karunaratne joined the company as a Director in 1994. Her long career in Management and in Finance now gives her the opportunity to guide the company in its future endeavors. Recently, in recognition of her contribution towards empowering women in the export sector, she was a runner-up award winner at the Women Entrepreneurs Awards 2002 organized by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Kolitha Weerakoon
Director - Shipping

Mr. Weerakoon’s tea career began in 1990 when he started as a trainee tea taster. Later he joined Impra Tea as a director in 1994. he has traveled extensively overseas and has wide knowledge of competitive and parallel markets in both marketing and shipping

Mr. Abhaya Gurusinghe
Director - Production and Packaging Material Control

Mr. Gurusinghe started his career as a technical manager at an public Sector Organization, joining Impra Tea in 1994. A holder of a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Moratuwa University he also holds a diploma in Business Management from NIBM.
